ARMY SGT JD “Jack” Williams, Triple Amputee of KY.
“Jack endured devastating injuries and the loss of both legs and an arm from a IED explosion. But, truly, he is the happiest person I have spoken with,” said Cathy from WVFV. “Every time we spoke, he was just returning from an outdoor adventure of some sort – hunting bear or antelope.”
He applied for an adapted forge and other equipment for his knife-making business. But Jack also is co-founder of Mohawk Outdoors, a nonprofit serving fellow wounded veterans by taking them on outdoor adventures. Work Vessels for Vets awarded the equipment for blacksmithing AND items for Mohawk Outdoors.
“Thank you, Work Vessels for Vets!” wrote Jack. “The award of an adapted blacksmith forge and knife-making equipment will let me use my blacksmithing talents. Blacksmithing is therapy and a good trade to know so I could pass on knowledge to other veterans to help give them a hobby/purpose in life that could possibly help more people!”
