WVFV Patriot Fund helps Re-Tool Vet after theft
USMC Maj Dave Daly needed emergency replacement of critical equipment for his drone surveillance business Vigilante Enterprises. As a past awardee of Work Vessels for Vets, he turned to WVFV for help.
“As a veteran of the Marine Corps with numerous tours of war under my belt in Iraq and Afghanistan, I have a high level of PTSD. Around 2017, I started a drone service business after I realized that flying drones helped to decrease the symptoms of PTSD that I was experiencing. Work Vessels for Vets funded my initial drone equipment in 2018,” wrote Daly.
“Last month, while filming vacant land in Southern California, I was violently robbed and lost thousands of dollars’ worth of drones and camera equipment, essentially making it impossible to work. As a result of an insurance loophole, I was only given a fraction of the value of the equipment back. It wasn’t enough to buy any of the drones or cameras I needed to get back to work.
As I began to lose booked contracts and couldn’t accept new contracts, I reached out to Work Vessels For Veterans for support. Thanks to the Patriot (emergency) Fund, I was quickly gifted a new drone and a new camera that put me back in business. Without the support of Work Vessels For Veterans, I would have had to make some very tough choices about the future of my company. I can’t thank Work Vessels For Veterans and the supporters enough for coming through for me in my hour of need. They literally saved my business.”
“Thank you again, Work Vessels for Vets, for growing and saving my business!”
